Case study · Renovation & remodeling

A remodeller nobody could find.

Mr. Home Remodel had a site that looked finished and behaved like it was not there. Ninety days after the rebuild, organic traffic was up more than 3,200% and leads had doubled month over month.

“We’re thrilled with the website Clio Websites created for our residential remodel company. Nat and Dusan delivered exactly what we envisioned, and we’re confident the new site will drive business.”

The Mr. Home Remodel team

The starting point

A site that passed the eye test and failed every other one.

Nothing about it looked broken. That is the failure mode we see most often in this trade: the homepage is fine, the photos are fine, and the site is invisible to anyone who is not already typing the company name.

  • Slow load times, with render-blocking JavaScript and CSS on every page.
  • No structured data at all — nothing telling Google what the business was or where it worked.
  • Thin page metadata and duplicated header tags across the service pages.
  • Key service pages buried more than five clicks from the homepage.
  • No local SEO signals: inconsistent NAP, a neglected Google Business Profile.

What we did

A rebuild, not a refresh.

The existing site could not be optimised into working. The structure was the problem, so the structure is what changed.

Rebuild

A full redesign and rebuild, with a pre-launch and post-launch technical audit either side of it so the gains could actually be attributed.

Speed

Core Web Vitals work on both ends — server-side caching and front-end delivery. LCP came down from 4.8s to 1.7s.

Structured data

LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ schema, so search engines could read what the business does and where it does it.

Site architecture

A flat URL hierarchy built around the money pages — kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, basement renovation — with internal linking to match.

Local SEO

NAP consistency across the web, a rebuilt Google Business Profile, and review snippets surfaced on the site itself.

Metadata

Unique titles and descriptions per page, and one H1 per page instead of several.

Every figure on this page is taken from the full case study published by Clio Websites, the agency that delivered the work and of which this practice is the construction arm.

Frequently asked

Is a 3,200% increase realistic for my site?

It is real, and it is also the honest arithmetic of a very low starting point — one to three organic visits a month. A contractor already getting a few hundred visits will not see the same multiple. What transfers is the mechanism: a site that search engines can read, delivered fast, structured around the services people actually search for.

How long did it take to show results?

The numbers above were measured 90 days after launch, against an August 2024 baseline. Technical fixes tend to show first and local ranking movement follows; anyone promising a result in three weeks is selling something else.

This is a remodeller. Does it apply to a commercial contractor?

The technical work is identical — speed, schema, crawl depth, metadata. What changes is what the site is structured around. A remodeller needs service and service-area pages. A commercial contractor needs a capability profile, project references and a careers pathway, because the reader is a procurement desk rather than a homeowner.

Why is there only one case study here?

Because publishing a client's numbers requires that client's agreement, and we will not invent them or round them up. More will go up as clients agree to them. Everything else we have built is on the <a href="/portfolio/" class="underline underline-offset-4 hover:text-signal">portfolio page</a>.

Want to know what yours is losing?

Send us the URL. The audit covers the same ground this rebuild started from — speed, structure, schema, crawl depth and local signals — and tells you which of them is actually costing you work.
